From Page to Stage

Drama Music Age 5-12

From Page to Stage is a Drama resource that guides you through transforming a narrative text into a performance. This course uses the Children’s Book Council of Australia Award-winning book Go Home, Cheeky Animals! by author Johanna Bell and illustrator Dion Beasley as a stimulus, however the process and development of this course can be applied to any narrative text you can think of!

Follow The Song Room’s Teaching Artist Anthony Crowley and the students from Deer Park North Primary School on their journey as the pages of Go Home, Cheeky Animals! come to life as animation and are then developed into a school performance. This course also includes an Auslan (sign language) reading of Go Home, Cheeky Animals! to support diverse learners and help develop creativity, confidence and teamwork.

From Page to Stage shows you how the elements of drama can be used to extend students reading comprehension, literacy and language development and broader engagement with literature. This course also contains tips and tricks for taking everyday objects and transforming them into props, as well as guidance on acting, narration and even creating soundscapes.

This resource can be explored independently or in conjunction with the Too Many Cheeky Dogs course also on ARTS:LIVE.
