Clay County Fair

 The Worlds Greatest County Fair

Sept. 8-16, 2012

The first modern Clay County Fair was held in 1918 just six weeks before the Armistice of World War I. The 1918 Clay County Fair held September 24-27, was the largest county fair held in Iowa that year, drawing more than 30,000 people and taking in a total gate receipt of $16,000.  Today the Clay County Fair is accepted not only as one of the largest county fairs in America with over 300,000 visitors,  over 600 exhibitors each year and has the added honor of being considered as one of the most agricultural-oriented fairs still in operation.  The enlargement of the Agri-Business/Machinery Display area to thirty acres in the 1970′s, made it the largest such display exhibit of any fair in the United States or Canada, and the nation’s largest agricultural fair.

Along with the vast selection of exhibitors the Clay Couunty Fair features GoldStar Amuseuments Midway with rides to thrill all ages!  The Clay County Fair Grandstand also attracts some of the to acts in music today.  This year the Grandstand will host  the NTPA Truck & Tractor Pull, IMCA Auto Races and World Of Outlaws Sprint Car Races and an outstanding line up of concerts!!
